BNP Standing Committee Member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku returned home from London on Sunday after a long exile.
Tuku arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Thai Airways flight at 2pm, where he was welcomed by BNP leaders and activists.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Tuku expressed his overwhelming emotions upon returning to the country after two and a half years in exile.
“Today I feel as I did when I returned to Bangladesh on December 16, 1971, as a 22-23-year-old youth,” he said.
The BNP leader came back after meeting BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in London.
Following his arrival, Tuku visited the grave of the late president Ziaur Rahman in the Sher-e Bangla Nagar area of the capital, where he placed a wreath.
He was accompanied by BNP leaders Habibur Rahman Habib, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, and Amirul Islam Alim at that time.
