The Chittagong Metropolitan Jubo Dal committee has been dissolved following a deadly clash between supporters of two rival leaders that resulted in one activist's death, with both leaders also being expelled from the organization.
The announcement was made in a circular signed by Nurul Islam Sohel, office secretary of the Central Executive Committee of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, on Friday night.
According to the circular, the committee was dissolved due to the expiration of its term, and a new committee will be formed soon.
The notice also confirmed the expulsion of Mosharraf Hossain, joint general secretary of Chittagong Metropolitan Jubo Dal, and Nurul Amin, agriculture affairs secretary.
Both leaders were removed from all party positions, including their primary memberships, for violating party discipline.
The decision was implemented by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee President Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan, as stated in the circular.
Earlier on Friday afternoon, two factions of Jubo Dal activists clashed over control of a territory in the Old Chandgaon area of the city. During the altercation, 25-year-old Jubo Dal activist Zubair Uddin Babu was fatally stabbed.
Locals reported that the groups involved in the clash were followers of the ousted leaders, Mosharraf Hossain and Nurul Amin.
