Awami League directs members to file complaints with army

Directive comes after army officers granted magistracy powers

Update : 18 Sep 2024, 12:58 PM

The Awami League on Wednesday directed its party leaders and activists to approach the army to lodge complaints about any attacks on them, a day after the government issued a notification granting the army magistracy powers for 60 days.

The party, ousted amid a mass uprising, made this directive through a post on its verified Facebook page, adding that it had received reports from across the country that Awami League leaders and activists had not even been allowed to file general diaries regarding attacks and looting at their homes.

“Since the army has now been given magistracy powers, there is no alternative but to lodge complaints with them to stop these criminals."

The Awami League said all those affected should submit written complaints, including the names of the attackers, to the nearest army camp through their family members.
