The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced plans to hold a rally on Sunday in New Paltan, Dhaka, to observe World Democracy Day.
The decision was made during a meeting of the party’s standing committee on Monday night.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP Media Cell, said that Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the BNP, will address the rally as the chief guest.
The party’s general secretary and standing committee members will also be present.
In addition to the rally, BNP will organize a program on Saturday in Dhaka to honor the families of individuals who have been missing or martyred over the past 17-18 years.
Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, a standing committee member of BNP, has been appointed as the coordinator for this event.
Dr Zahid Hossain recently chaired a meeting at the Gulshan office of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, where he was joined by leaders from the Dhaka Division and affiliated organizations.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and several standing committee members were also present at the meeting.
