A new organization called "Chhatra-Janata Oikya Mancha" (Student-People Unity Platform) has been launched with the goal of establishing a new Bangladesh free from corruption, exploitation, and inequality.
The official launch took place at the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Tuesday.
During the event, the convenor of Chhatra-Janata Oikya Mancha, Md Abdullah Al Hossain, said: “The journey of this inclusive unity platform has begun by uniting people from all walks of life in support of a student-people uprising against authoritarianism. The details of who will be on the platform’s committee will be announced later.”
He said: “For a long time, Bangladesh has been plagued by inequality, exploitation, and the monstrous misuse of state power. Voices of dissent have been suppressed by state security forces. After the July uprising, people have started to express their opinions freely, voicing their vision of what kind of Bangladesh they want.
“However, the reality is that the student community remains united to ensure that no political party, individual, or group of collaborators can return to power and reestablish fascism in this country,” he added.
He also said: "The old opportunistic and power-hungry political groups and their politics have been rejected by Bangladesh’s students and people. Now, the need is to unite patriotic, honest, and successful people from various walks of life. The interim government, born from the blood of a bloody uprising, aims to fulfill the mandate of freedom for the people.
“It will reform policies that go against the constitution and democracy to pave the way for a truly independent and corruption-free Bangladesh. Support for this process is extended in all forms, but if there is any deviation, or if the corrupt and authoritarian collaborators are rehabilitated, or if bureaucracy is favored, the student community will once again rise in protest,” he added.
Among others present at the event was Habibur Rahman Rizu, a member of the Executive Committee of the Rastra Sanskar Andolan.
