BNP Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has urged the public to report criminals to the police and emphasized that while it is crucial to hold perpetrators accountable, innocent individuals associated with the Awami League should not be unjustly targeted.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event held at Bagora Eidgah Maidan in Brahmanpara Upazila, Comilla on Tuesday, Rizvi said: “We advocate for the rule of law. If someone is a criminal, file a case against them. But do not file cases against innocent people.
“It is a major sin to target innocent individuals, including those associated with the Awami League. Actions should be taken against those involved in violence, terrorism, or who have forcibly occupied people’s homes, but it must be through legal means,” he added.
Rizvi criticized the current administration, accusing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina of manipulating law enforcement agencies to maintain her grip on power.
“Sheikh Hasina knew she would lose if there was fair justice. She has created police and law enforcement agencies from select groups, including student and youth organizations. She has been a tyrannical ruler, and we must work to prevent such rule from recurring,” Rizvi said.
The event was organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan South Volunteer League and supported by the Comilla South District Volunteer League.
It was chaired by Jasim Uddin, secretary of the Comilla South District BNP and President of the Brahmanpara Upazila BNP.
