Thirty social and cultural organizations have come together to form a new platform named "Democratic Cultural Unity."
The name of the organization was announced at a press conference on Saturday morning at the central office of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi, located opposite the National Press Club.
Leaders from more than thirty contemporary cultural movements were present at the event.
The press conference revealed that this joint platform of cultural organizations plays a crucial role in the recent student and public uprising.
The conference was conducted by Amit Ranjan Dey, general secretary of Udichi.
The written statement was read by Mofizur Rahman Laltu, general secretary of Bibartan Cultural Center.
Responses to various questions from journalists were provided by Udichi's Vice President Jamsed Anwar Tapan, Zakir Hossain, general secretary of Charon Cultural Center, Dinbandhu Das of Progati Lekhok Sangha etc.
The organizations forming the "Democratic Cultural Unity" are: Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi, Bibartan Cultural Center, Gano Sanskriti Kendra, Sanghati Sanskriti Sangsad, Society Practice Center, Cultural Union, Raju Debate Forum, Charon Cultural Center, Bhagkulk Library and Cultural Center, Progati Lekhok Sangha, Gano Sanskriti Parishad, Swadesh Chinta Sangha, Bangladesh Theater, Tirondaj, Ronesh Dasgupta Film Society, Eei Banglay, Dhaka Drama, Science Movement Platform, Bibartan Natya Goshthi-Sirajganj, Bangladesh Mime Federation, Dhoboman Literary Movement, Socialist Intellectuals Association, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani Parishad, Shaheed Asad Parishad, Madol, Society Thought Forum, and Charon Cultural Centre.
