Kader Siddiqui: New authorities equally guilty if they repeat AL’s actions

'Some individuals are exploiting the historical victories of students and mass uprisings'

Bangabir Abdul Kader Siddique, president of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, has stated that if others replicate the actions of the Awami League, they will be equally guilty of the same crime.

“Vandalism is unjust. The Awami League engaged in it. Now if someone follows the same path, he is equally guilty,” he said after paying tribute to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32 around 7am on Thursday.

Kader Siddique, a prominent freedom fighter who headed  the Kaderia Bahini during the War of Liberation and former MP, faced obstruction from the protesters when he reached Dhanmondi 32.

His car came under attack by the mob and was vandalized.

Siddique told Dhaka Tribune: “I went there with flowers to pay tribute.

“The government cancelled the holiday, but it does not mean the mourning is cancelled.”

He thinks that vandalizing his car is an isolated incident. “If it (car vandalism) brings prosperity, I will be happy."

Siddique believes that some individuals are exploiting the historic victory of the students and the mass uprising.

He also alleged that the Awami League is indirectly responsible for the vandalism owing to its years of misrule. “I am a freedom fighter. I went to the war being inspired by Bangabandhu. It is undeniable that he is the father of the nation.”
