Humayun Kabir, the president of BNP's Bauphal municipality unit, has been removed from his party post following allegations of vandalism, looting, and issuing threats.

The decision was announced in a letter signed by district BNP Convener A Rashid Chunnu Mia and Member Secretary Snehangshu Sarkar Kutti on Saturday night.

The letter mentioned that since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, numerous complaints of vandalism, looting, and threats have been lodged against Humayun Kabir. A show-cause notice was issued to him on August 8, demanding a response within 24 hours.

However, the written and oral explanations he provided were deemed unsatisfactory by the district BNP. Consequently, Humayun Kabir was relieved of his position as the president of Bauphal municipal BNP.

The notice further mentioned that Shahjahan Howladar, the senior vice president of municipal BNP, has been appointed as the acting president.

Local journalists in Bauphal upazila reported that the charges against Humayun Kabir included an attack on Patuakhali district correspondent Emran Hasan Sohel of Dainik Kaler Kantho and the vandalism of his residence.

District BNP Member Secretary Snehangshu Sarkar Kutti confirmed the dismissal, citing violations of party discipline.

Humayun Kabir could not be reached for immediate comment.
