Chhatra Dal leader suspended over arson, attack

A Chhatra Dal leader, Kausar Manik Badal, has been suspended from the party in Lakshmipur on charges of attack, arson, and extortion.

District Chhatra Dal Secretary General Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed Kausar's suspension around 11pm on Wednesday.

Allegations against him include attacking, burning, and extorting from the houses of several individuals, including a school teacher in Chandraganj of Sadar upazila. Kausar was a member of Chandraganj Union Chhatra Dal.

In a press release signed by Akbar Hossain, office secretary of the district Chhatra Dal, it was mentioned that Kausar has been temporarily removed from the party based on specific allegations of violating party instructions and engaging in disorderly activities during the current situation.

The expulsion was carried out under the direction of district Chhatra Dal President Hasan Mahmud Ibrahim and Secretary General Mamun.

According to party sources, the central Chhatra Dal has warned all members to maintain control in the ongoing situation.

Under the party’s name, Kausar attacked several houses, including that of Kazi Mostafa Kajol, the head teacher of Pratapganj Government Primary School in Chandraganj.

There are also allegations of extortion against him.

The district Chhatra Dal, upon learning about the incident, decided to expel him.

District Chhatra Dal Secretary General Abdullah Al Mamun said: "Kausar has been suspended for breaking party instructions. In the ongoing situation, everyone should follow the party's directives."
