PM orders probe into threat on Joy

Update : 06 Aug 2013, 03:58 AM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday asked the home minister to investigate the threat made against her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Twitter and take necessary steps against the person who is responsible.

A minister who attended the cabinet meeting told reporters that Home Minister MK Alamgir assured the prime minister saying steps had been taken to trace the person. Law enforcing agencies were asked to bring him to book.

On Sunday, Joy in his official fan page on Facebook posted that a human rights activist, William Gomes, wished that his mother would be killed as her father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Joy termed the person a "real terrorist."

Sheikh Mujib and most of his family members were assassinated on August 15, 1975. Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana escaped the massacre as they were abroad.

Joy said William Gomes claims to be a human rights activist and had been spreading false claims of human rights abuses by the current government.

The tweet reads: "Ask your Mom to pack up. Its' time to go. For now on she will cook for you everyday. Wish she will end up like your nanu."
