Nahid asks Fakhrul to apologise to HSC students

Update : 05 Aug 2013, 04:08 AM

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has again blamed BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami for this year's poor HSC results as they enforced hartals frequently during the public examination.

"The results of the HSC examinations (held this year) have been a little bit poor due to frequent shutdowns enforced by BNP-Jamaat," he said while talking to reporters at his secretariat office.

The results of the HSC and its equivalent examinations were published on Saturday showing an average pass rate of 74.30 percent against 78.67 percent last year.

Referring to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir' s comment against the government over the results, Nahid said, "He (Fakhrul) mocked the students (HSC examinees). So, he should apologise to the students (for the mockery)."

Shrugging off the Prime Minister's remark that the opposition is responsible for this year's poor and unexpected results, Fakhrul on Saturday said it has became a habit of the government to blame its opponent for anything bad.

Replying to a query, Nahid said the successful students will not face any problem to get admitted to colleges as there are adequate seats there.
