Ruling Awami League has inducted 83 new assistant secretaries for the party's central sub-committee in a bid to increase its organisational strength, sources said. The names will be declared within a day or two.
Party President Sheikh Hasina on Monday approved the inclusion of the new faces and sent the list to her political office at Dhanmondi on August 5.
AL Joint General Secretary Mahabub-Ul-Alam Hanif told the Dhaka Tribune that the party president had already approved the names of the assistant secretaries and the names would be announced in a day.

Earlier, the party announced the names of 66 assistant secretaries when its central committee was declared following the 19th tri-annual conference held on December 29 last year. With the new recruits, the total number of assistant secretaries stands at 149.
