Police nabbed two activists from Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami, from Chittagong Central Jail gate on Tuesday morning when they were released from jail after receiving bail on a case.
The arrestees were identified as Sabbir and Mohiuddin, said police sources.
AKM Mohiuddin Selim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said the duo was arrested a few months ago in a violence case lodged with Kotwali Police Station and were promptly sent to jail. Following that they got bail and released on Tuesday.
The OC said: “The two Shibir men are accused in several cases lodged with the same police station.” Possessing some undisclosed information against them, the police nabbed the two again, he added.
The two Shibir men were taken to Kotwali Police Station where they were interrogated.
Sources from the jail said the Shibir activists received bail from a metropolitan magistrate court in Chittagong on Monday and jail authorities received the bail order that evening.
The two were released on Tuesday morning after verifying the bail orders, added the sources.
