The High Court (HC) on Monday ordered authorities concerned to return the passport of BNP standing committee member Rafiqul Islam Miah within five days. Considering a writ petition, anHC Bench of Justice, Md. Habibul Gani and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order.
It also issued a rule, asking why the passport has not been returned to Miah. The Home Secretary and the director general of the passport department have to respond to the rule within four weeks.
The petition stated that although August 25 was the fixed date for returning the passport to Miah, the authorities failed to do so.
