BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal has been freed from jail on bail after more than three and a half months of his arrest before the 12th national parliamentary election.
He walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur around 4pm on Wednesday.
BNP leaders and activists of the senior leader of the party received him at the jail gate.
Detective Branch of police on October 31 arrested Alal from Shahidbagh area under the capital's Shahjahanpur Police Station.
While responding to reporters at the jail gate, Moazzem Hossain Alal said that this government has turned the entire country into a prison. Now the movement to oust the autocratic government from the largest prison will be strengthened.
Earlier on October 31, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Alal from the Shahidbagh area under the capital's Shahjahanpur police station.
A court on November 1 had placed the BNP leader on a five-day remand in the case.
