The central BNP has expelled two of its leaders from all party posts for breach of party code.
The party expelled Md Helal Uddin, the senior joint secretary of Rangamati Metropolitan BNP and the councilor of Ward No 1 of Rangamati municipality, on charges of breaching party code of conduct and going against its orders.
Party Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi disclosed the information through a media statement on Saturday.
With this, Helal Uddin will also lose all party posts.
Meanwhile, Rangamati district BNP Organizing Secretary Saiful Islam Shakil said that Helal was present at the campaigning of Awami League candidate Dipankar Talukder at Shutki Patki area of Rangamati on Friday night. That's why the central BNP expelled him, the BNP leader said.
Helal Uddin told Dhaka Tribune: “I have not received the letter yet. I still don't know why I was expelled.”
Meanwhile, the party also expelled Chittagong Metropolitan BNP Vice President Abu Jahur from all party posts citing similar reasons.
Rizvi issued a separate media statement in this regard on Saturday.
