BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday said Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque has revealed the secrets by stating that BNP rejected their proposal to participate in the upcoming election in return for the release of its imprisoned leaders.
"This confession of the agriculture minister proves that the ongoing violence, false cases, arrests, killings, attacks on the houses of BNP and other opposition party leaders, is planned,” he said at a virtual briefing on Monday.
At last, the opposition leader revealed that the country's law, court, law enforcement agencies, administration, judiciary, everything is in the hands of the government, the BNP senior leader said.
On Sunday, Muhammad Abdur Razzaque said the BNP declined an offer to participate in the upcoming election in exchange for the immediate release of its detained leaders.
The seasoned politician said authorities had made various efforts to encourage the BNP's participation in the election.
According to the minister, the detention of BNP leaders was strategically planned to maintain stability in the country.
He argued that the presence of vehicles on the roads during hartals or strikes was evidence that the nation was unaffected by political turmoil. Razzaque questioned whether such normalcy could be observed if around 20,000 BNP leaders and activists had not been apprehended.
