The ruling Awami League on Monday started distributing party nomination papers to its selected candidates for the upcoming 12th national parliamentary elections.
On Sunday, the party announced candidates for 298 out of 300 seats in the general elections.
Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Sayek Khan said that nomination papers are being distributed to the candidates from the Dhanmondi political office of the Awami League president on Monday from 12pm.
On Sunday afternoon, the party's general secretary Obaidul Quader officially announced the list of party candidates from the central office of Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue.
Furthermore, this time around 71 members of parliament from the Awami League of the 11th National Assembly did not receive nominations.
In the seats where different alliance parties received concessions in the past, the Awami League has fielded candidates.
In an attempt to mix a blend of old and new leaders, the party nominated 102 fresh faces in the upcoming polls.
