BNP holds protest marches in Dhaka during blockade

  • No BNP leaders, activists near its Naya Paltan office
  • Law enforcement on on high alert

The BNP and its affiliates held processions demanding the resignation of the Awami League government and the restoration of the caretaker government system in different areas of Dhaka on Thursday, the second day of a 48-hour blockade initiated by the party.

The areas where the BNP, Swachhsebak Dal, Chhatra Dal, Mahila Dal and others held protests and chanted slogans included Syedabad, one of the busiest parts of the capital, Lalbagh, Karwan Bazar, Segunbagicha, Gulshan-1 and Pallabi. 

There was another protest march on the Uttara-Ashulia road, led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, who said the public was in support of his party’s blockade.

Meanwhile, there were no BNP leaders or activists in front of the party’s central office in Naya Paltan. Police were on high alert near the locked office, which has been closed for 11 days now.
