Chhatra Dal burns tyres in anti-govt protest

  • Demand polls under neutral government

Members of the Jagannath University unit of Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP, held a protest against the Awami League government early on Monday by setting tyres on fire on the Jatrabari-Dayaganj road.

Chhatra Dal Vice President ABM Mahmud Sardar, Joint Secretary Milan Howladar, JnU Chhatra Dal President Asaduzzaman Aslam and General Secretary Sujan Mollah led the protest.

Sujan Molla said Chhatra Dal will continue its protest march until the government’s ouster. “This fascist government unjustly arrested and remanded three leaders of JnU Chatra Dal. In the last three months, Chhatra League has tortured many of our leaders and activists on the campus.”

Meanwhile, Swechasebak Dal, the BNP’s volunteer wing, held a protest march in the Shankar area of Dhanmondi, Dhaka, expressing support for the party’s ongoing blockade.

Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal also held a procession in support of the blockade, calling for the resignation of the government and demanding an election under a neutral, nonpartisan government.

Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal President Hasan Jafir Tuhinand General Secretary Shahidul Islam Babul led a protest march of the organization on Banani Road 11 in the capital.
