Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said the BNP’s central leaders cannot avoid responsibility for the arson, damage to lives and properties and disorder carried out by BNP men in Dhaka a day earlier.
He was responding to a question from journalists at a peace rally organized by the local Awami League unit in protest of terrorism and anarchy by BNP-Jamaat in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj.
The home minister alleged that the BNP has unleashed arson similar to what it did in 2014 in the country.
“Today they (BNP) burnt buses in Demra. Yesterday they carried out attacks on the chief justice’s house as well as vehicles, killing police and beating up journalists. Their central leaders will have to take responsibility [for these acts],” he said.
The people involved with criminal activities are being identified and they will have to face trials, the minister said.
About a person who posed as an advisor to US President Joe Biden, he said the US embassy does not know his identity, but he was born in Bangladesh an investigation is underway in this regard.
