Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has urged the party leaders and workers at all levels to remain alert against BNP's conspiracy to create terrorism and anarchy ahead of the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections.
"BNP is creating fear in the people's minds in the name of the so-called rally on Saturday as part of a series of conspiracies. Awami League leaders and activists along with the peace-loving people will take a cautious stand against BNP's terrorism and anarchy,” he said in a statement signed by Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua on Monday.
In the statement, Obaidul Quader said: "Awami League is committed to upholding democratic progress and a stable environment in the country. Many Awami League leaders and activists have sacrificed for people's freedom, liberation, and democratic rights. Once again, our leaders and workers are prepared to make any sacrifice for development, progress, and prosperity under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina."
He also emphasized: "Awami League has consistently upheld democratic culture and values. The upcoming parliamentary elections will be conducted in accordance with the country's constitutional provisions and the democratic process."
He said: "We anticipate a fair and peaceful election with the participation of all. However, the BNP is plotting to disrupt the election and incite chaos. They are attempting to seize power through any means. If BNP's actions undermine the democratic environment, they will be held accountable for it."
"BNP leaders repeatedly exhibit radical aggression in their statements, which threatens independent and sovereign Bangladesh. Their disbelief in Bangladesh's independence suggests they are willing to play with the country and its people. They are currently seeking foreign mercy by elevating someone to a godlike status for power. Through conspiracies, they aim to disrupt the constitutional order and empower unelected individuals. Awami League is resolute in upholding the constitution and the nation's sovereignty," he added further.
