Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Thursday said BNP’s downfall will begin on October 28, not the government’s.
"BNP has declared October 28 as the journey to topple the government. Rather, the BNP's downfall will start on that day. They will have to announce that they will launch a massive movement after the next election. The BNP has to make this announcement,” he said.
The minister made the comments while addressing an event organized by the Dhaka Sub-Editors Council (DSCC) at the National Press Club.
The minister said last Wednesday, two massive rallies took place in Dhaka, and no untoward incident was reported. “This is how politics should be practiced.”
The information minister said: "BNP had said a few days ago that the final match will be held in October. We had hoped they would announce the date for the final match from the beginning of October. Then they said, the final match was after the puja. Now I see it's taken to October 28. They will soon announce their agitation after the elections on October 28.”
Referring to Israel's attacks on Palestine, he said: "Some 800 people have already died in attacks on Palestinian hospitals. Hundreds of children have died. They can't find a place to bury them. The whole world is protesting. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as well.”
