The local unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student body of Jamaat-e-Islami, on Thursday called a half-day hartal in the district for Sunday protesting the death of Khalilur Rahman, 88-ward unit president of the capital, reports UNB.
Mizanur Rahman, publicity secretary of Shibir, announced the shutdown at Kormoja Eidgah Maidan in Santhia upazila around 10am before Khalilur’s namaj-e-janaza.
Khalilur, 22, resident of Mollikpara village of the upazila, was reportedly shot dead in a clash with police in the capital’s Jatrabari area during the first hours of the second day hartal called by Jamaat.
