BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday accused the government of mixing poison with Khaleda Zia’s food.

“The ruling party is constantly engaged in a grand plan to eliminate their political opponents. They (Awami League) have adopted various methods ranging from poisoning food to enforced disappearances and murders,” he said.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the comments at a press briefing at the BNP central office in Dhaka’s Naya Paltan.

“It is certain that the countrymen believe that the Awami League government has poisoned the food of imprisoned Begum Khaleda Zia. It was even expressed in the speech of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself in London,” he added.

Rizvi said Khaleda Zia went to London in 2017, and when she returned home three months later in September, she was completely healthy. “A few months later, on February 8, 2018, she was sentenced and jailed in a false case.”

BNP leader Rizvi asked: "If Khaleda Zia entered the jail in good health, then how did she get such a complex incurable disease?"
