BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday refused to answer questions about his reported meeting with US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas.
Fakhrul was talking to reporters at a press conference at the party chairperson's office in Gulshan. But when they asked him for a statement on the meeting, he said: "We will not answer any questions in this regard. I gave my answer yesterday (Thursday).”
Earlier, several media outlets reported that Mirza Fakhrul had a meeting with Peter Haas at American Club in Gulshan of the capital on Thursday.
However, the BNP secretary general denied holding this meeting.
"It has been reported in various media that I had a meeting with Peter Haas. But that is false. I did not have any meeting with him today (Thursday)," he told the media later in the day.
Multiple sources in the BNP told Bangla Tribune that the two had met.
