BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas on Tuesday accused Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader of issuing death threats.
"Do you think we have forgotten that you said you’d throw us from the Padma Bride? Now you’re saying you’d place uranium on our heads? What have you (Awami League) started? Learn etiquettes. BNP is a gentleman's party, and the Awami League only consists of uncivilized people,” he said.
Mirza Abbas said these during an event held at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
He further asked if Obaidul Quader knew what uranium was. “Do you have any knowledge about it? If uranium is placed on top of someone’s head, the person would die. So, don’t you think you have threatened to kill people? You have threatened to kill BNP standing committee members.”
On Monday, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that if the BNP jumps and dances too much, Russian uranium will be put on their heads.
“BNP said it will paralyze Dhaka city in October. The people of Dhaka will paralyze them (BNP) instead. They said to shut down the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. If they jump and dance too much, we will put Russian uranium on their heads and cool it down,” he said.
