Ruling party Awami League has inducted 83 new assistant secretaries for the party’s central sub-committee in a bid to increase its organisational strength. The names will be declared within a day or two.
The party President Sheikh Hasina on Monday approved the inclusion of the new assistant secretaries and the send list to her political office at Dhanmondi yesterday.
AL Joint General Secretary Mahabub-Ul-Alam Hanif told the Dhaka Tribune that the party president had already approved the names of the assistant secretaries and the names would be announced in a day.
The party sources said 83 new assistant secretaries will be: Dr Jakaria Swapon, Suvash Singha Roy, Sahajahan Alam Saju, Manjurul Haque Manju, Shafiqur Rahman, Tareque Sams Himu, Sheikh Mohammad Hasan Mehedi, Khakon Paul, Farad Hossain Sangram, Salauddin Mahmud Chowdhury, Khan Mainul Hossain Mostaque, Aslam Sani, Simanto Talukder, Saifuddin Nasir, Manjurul Alam Tokon, Moniruzzaman Manir, Reazul Ahsan Khan, Dr Azam, Barrister Sajjad Hossain, Barrister Biplob Barua, Zobaidul Haque Russel, Jakir Hossain Maruf, Anawarul Azim Sadek, Sayeed Ahmed Babu, Dr Mahabubur Rahman, Ahakam Ullah, Faisal Biplob, Arifuzzaman Miah Tutul, Dr Samiul Alam Liton, Rakib Hossain, Altab Hossain Biplob, Gazi Hafizur

The party announced the names of 66 assistant secretaries when its central committee was declared following its 19th tri-annual conference held on December 29 last year. With the new appointments, the total number of the assistant secretaries stands at 149.
