Jamaat to stage protest Monday

Update : 28 Jul 2013, 12:52 PM

Jamaat-e-Islami announced they would stage countrywide protest programmes on Monday to protest the government's harassment and repression of the party members in the war crimes trials.

The party on Sunday issued a written statement signed by its acting secretary general Rafiqul Islam Khan.

In the statement, Rafiqul Islam said: “The government is hatching a conspiracy to stay in power. But we will not let that happen. “

“Tougher programmes will be staged if the government tries to foil our peaceful programmes by using police force in the holy month of Ramadan,” he said.

He urged the nation to join their Monday’s programmes to make them a success.
