BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas said that the Election Commission is trying to announce the schedule of national polls hastily following the government’s instructions.
“This commission is a formal Election Commission created by the illegal government. They are invalid; their schedule (for polls) will not be accepted,” Mirza Abbas said in his speech at a rally held before BNP's mass procession in Dhaka Metropolitan South on Friday.
BNP is observing the program to press home their one-point demand.

“We want to warn you (Election Commission) that you are doing wrong by obeying the orders of this government. You are appointed employees of Awami League, not appointed by the people. You have no organizational right to choose. If you want to do it, we will resist it. There will be no election under this government,” said Mirza Abbas.
He claimed that the current illegal government has taken away the opposition party’s right to hold peaceful rallies. Police are arresting and harassing BNP activists.
Sheikh Hasina's government should be overthrown, he added.
Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said that the longer the fascist government is in power, the country will suffer. “They should be ousted as soon as possible.”
“Now we are trying to bring down the government through peaceful agitation. However, if anyone disturbs us, we will give them a reply in a befitting manner.”

BNP senior leader Abdul Moyeen Khan said that the current government should immediately resign and hand over power to a non-partisan neutral caretaker government. After that, elections will be held in Bangladesh under a neutral Election Commission.
Earlier, the leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan South unit BNP gathered at the Kamalapur Stadium area to take part in a mass rally. A short rally was held before the procession.
As a continuation of the ongoing movement, BNP brought out mass processions in Dhaka at 3pm on Friday.
