The Awami League's peace rally in front of the south gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque ended on Wednesday evening.
The rally was initially supposed to start at 3pm but due to rain, it started 30 minutes earlier.
Dhaka TribuneRuling party leaders and activists had gathered amid the rain with banners, festoons and posters at the Batul Mukarram south gate.Before that, top leaders of Awami League associate bodies including Meher Afroz Chumki, Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil and Sharmin Sultana Lily from Mohila Awami League, Jubo League and Jubo Mohila League have delivered their speeches at the rally.
Awami League Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain, Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua and other metropolitan Awami League leaders were present at the rally venue.
They said that their leaders and activists were in the field so that BNP cannot create anarchy in the name of rally.
