BNP leaders and activists began gathering in front of the party's central office at Dhaka's Naya Paltan to participate in a rally aimed at announcing its one-point movement on Wednesday morning.
They started to gather at 9am with the rally set to begin at 2pm.
The BNP's like-minded political parties are expected to hold simultaneous rallies to press home the demand for the ouster of the government ahead of the next parliamentary election.
A makeshift stage has been set up on the north portion of the road in front of the party office.
Bangla TribuneHundreds of party members arrived at the rally venue in brief processions from different wards wearing colourful caps, carrying placards and posters.
They were chanting anti-government slogans.
BNP men took to both sides of the roads from the Rajarbagh police hospital intersection to the Kakrail intersection.
Police have been deployed from the Kakrail intersection, but they are yet to enter the BNP rally venue.
Senior leaders of the party have not yet arrived at the venue.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will formally announce the party's one-point demand at the rally.
BNP activists had been conducting campaigns over the past few days, urging their supporters to attend the rally at Naya Paltan.
The top leadership of the party held a preparatory meeting with the leaders of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal and Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal last week, where important leaders of Dhaka city and surrounding districts were given special instructions to ensure attendance at the rally.
