European Union (EU) Ambassador in Bangladesh Charles Whiteley on Tuesday held separate meetings with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader.
A meeting with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir started at 3pm on Tuesday at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan.
BNP Chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter.
Party's Human Rights Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad was also present with Mirza Fakhrul.
Besides, Ambassador Charles Whiteley is accompanied by EU DCM Bernd Spanier and political officer Sebastian.
Meanwhile, the meeting with GM Quader was held at the EU ambassador's residence in Gulshan from 10:30am to 12pm on Tuesday.
Dr Bernd Spanier, Deputy Head of EU embassy and Mashrum Mawla, special envoy of GM Quader were present during the meeting.
After coming out of the meeting, Mashrum Mawla told the media: "The context of election was discussed in the meeting as usual. There they wanted to know whether the Jatiya Party will participate in the next election. It has been asked whether the Jatiya Party will participate in the elections alone or in a coalition. We have given our answer.”
