Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that Awami League's policy has not changed after 10 years for allowing Jamaat to hold rally.
He told journalists after the 18th anniversary ceremony of highway police at Rajarbagh in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.
The home minister said: “Jamaat is an unregistered political party. Many unregistered groups in the country organize various programs. Unregistered political parties can hold their meetings indoors. Jamaat wanted to hold an indoor rally, the DMP commission verified it and gave permission.”
Mentioning that Jamaat usually holds its rally at the North Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, the minister said: “Many times in these rallies, we have seen that they set fire and vandalize vehicles. Keeping these things in mind, they have been allowed to hold an indoor rally.”
