Police were seen on high alert in the Aminbazar area of Savar's Dhaka-Aricha Highway since Monday morning.

Apart from the roads, police were also seen checking bus stands, and other essential locations.

Sub Inspector Harun Or Rashid of Aminbazar outpost of Savar Model police station said: “The terrorist organization Jamaat is set to organize a protest program in the capital on Monday. We are on alert so that they don't create any kind of chaos or terrorist activities around this gathering.”

He added that police so far did not detain anyone for suspicious activities.

The Jamaat-e-Islami has planned a protest rally at 3pm on Monday to advocate for their three-point demands.

These demands include the establishment of a caretaker government during elections, and the release of party leaders such as the party's Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman.

Earlier on Sunday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) rejected Jamaat-e-Islami's petition to hold a rally in Dhaka.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Investigation) Harun-or-Rashid said the intelligence units are keeping an eye on how the banned party's members are gathering in Dhaka.
