AL-Juba League gunfight injures one in Noakhali

One person suffered a bullet injury when Awami League and Juba League members started a gunfight over a land dispute in Maijdee town’s Harinaryanpur area at around 10:30am Saturday.

The name of the injured was Gonesh Chandra Roy, 45. 

Witnesses and police said district Juba league member Sharif Uddin Palash and town Awami league member Tanvir Khalil Babu had a long time clash over 20 decimals of land.

The incident took place when both groups attempted to gain possession of the land; this resulted in heated talks and at one stage a clash erupted.

Shots were fired during the clash, and one person was shot while passing the road. Locals said a frightful situation was created and people started rushing.

Locals rescued the injured Ganesh and sent him to Noakhali Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Officer-in-charge Mir Jahadul Karim Roney confirmed the incident and assured that necessary action would be taken in this regard.
