A new political alliance, Gonomukti Jote, has been formally launched with the aim of participating in the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections.
The announcement came at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday
The new political alliance made its debut with Shahriar Iftekhar Fuad as chairman, Freedom Fighter Moazzem Hossain Khan Majlish as advisor, Abu Lays Munna as chief coordinator, former secretary Kasem Masood as spokesperson, Prof AR Khan, Syed Haroon-ur-Rashid, and Amina Khatun as co-chairpersons, and Md Al Amin as coordinator.
Besides Dr Momena Khatun, Dr Isha Mohammad, Dr Mohammad Ali, Dr Professor Md Fazlul Haque, Professor Dr Shahid Manju, Alhaj Mohammad Fazlul Haque, ARM Raju Sikder, Engineer Musfiqur Rahman, Ghiyas Uddin Bhuiyan, and Sheikh Abdun Noor were also announced as members of the alliance's advisory council.
Kasem Masud, spokesperson of the alliance, said: “The goal of the alliance is to participate in the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections.
"We have formed the Gonomukti Jote with a commitment to practicing responsible politics and democracy. We believe that healthy politics inspired by patriotism can bring about fundamental changes in resolving the crisis of the people. In this continuation, the right leadership will emerge from within the people. It will be possible to make a democratic Bangladesh without exploitation and discrimination,” he added.
However, they have not yet revealed how many political parties and social organizations have joined their alliance.
