The President Abdul Hamid’s son Rezwan Ahamed Taufiq, the newly elected MP of the Kishoreganj-4 constituency took oath on Monday.
The parliamentary seat was announced vacated after his father assumed presidency in April.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath taking ceremony at her office in presence of senior MPs accompanying the new lawmaker of the ruling Awami League.
Taufiq was elected as a member of the parliament after receiving 153,000 votes in the July 3 by-polls.
He defeated rival Syed Muhitul Islam Asim, a renegade candidate of the ruling Awami League, who bagged 59,070 votes in the constituency, comprising Itna, Ostogram and Mithamoin of Kishoreganj district.
The new MP is set to attend the next day of the current budget session on July 14.
