Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad Monday termed the results of the recently held Gazipur City Corporation polls as “cautionary signal 10” for the ruling Awami League.
He also said his party would no longer be a ladder for wins in the upcoming national polls, adding that it would contest the election independently.
Addressing the opening ceremony of Union Bank’s second branch, the JP Chairman said: “Unless the people want, it is impossible to be elected as the mayor.”
He also criticised the party’s decision to enhance support for Azmat Ullah after starting to support MA Mannan before the GCC polls, terming it “worthless.”
Ershad said the country could not run amid such “political unrest, share market scandal and traffic jams,” adding formation provincial government system to bring back “peaceful atmosphere in the country.
