Awami League to hold peace rally across Bangladesh on Saturday

BNP is also scheduled to hold a march program in all unions of Bangladesh on that day

Update : 06 Feb 2023, 03:56 PM

The ruling Awami League is going to hold a peace rally in all unions across Bangladesh on Saturday to counter the march program of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The Awami League party leaders said all central leaders have been instructed to attend the union-level program on Saturday.

According to the party leaders, Awami League's Dhaka North and South units will hold the peace rally in Dhaka.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and central leaders of the party will be present in some rallies.

Apart from this, the central leaders of the party will be present in 40 of the remaining 76 organizational districts.

In most cases, the leaders have been instructed to attend the peace rally in their own districts.

In the districts where the central leaders will not go, the district leaders and local parliamentarians have been instructed to hold a peace rally.

Awami League Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain said the peace rally will be held to remind the people at the grassroots level of the development that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led government brought to this country.

“The condition the country's people were in during the BNP-Jamaat government will be highlighted in these peace rallies. We will urge people to not create an unstable environment and harm the lives and properties before the next election,” he added.

BNP has been holding a series of programs since last year demanding the fall of the government.

BNP announced a march program on Saturday in all unions to press home their 10-point demand, including holding the next general election under a non-party caretaker government.

The ruling party, as well, has been holding peace rallies in response to those programs that BNP had held in Dhaka.
