Despite a sense of panic over possible violence in Saturday’s mayoral election to the Gazipur City Corporation, ward councillors and voters are in a buoyant mood ahead of the maiden polls.
While visiting several areas of the city people were found very much enthusiastic about participating in the ward councillor election.
Voters are, however, emphasizing on the quality of the candidates rather than their promises.
“We will cast votes for the best councillor considering their qualification and willingness to serve people,” said Abdul Halim Mia from Ward - 24.
M Jahangir Alam, a councillor candidate for Ward – 24, expressed his satisfaction over the election process and said he was confident about winning the race.
Ward - 26 councillor candidate M Abdul Karim said: “I will work in accordance with my promises that include getting rid the city of water logging, terrorism and drug businesses.”
