Welcoming the English New Year 2023, Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday greeted the countrymen on behalf of the ruling party as the people in Bangladesh, like elsewhere in the world, celebrated the new year on Sunday midnight.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, extended greetings to the people while exchanging views with the Roads and Highway Division officials at Setu Bhaban in Dhaka.
Expressing his hope that BNP will come out of their inherent negative politics in the new year, Quader said: "I would expect that BNP will return to the positive way of politic by shunning the dark and conspiratorial paths of their negative politics in the new year."
About revenue collection since the operation of the Padma Bridge on June 25, 2022, the minister said so far Tk403 crore was collected from the bridge which is good news for the economy of the country.
Later, the minister exchanged new year's greetings with the officials of the Setu Bhaban and he discussed about the progress of the ongoing projects.
He also held discussions on the progress of the development projects with the road division officials.
