Dhaka streets on Saturday turned red and green as millions of people attended the victory procession “Bijoy Shobhajatra.”
To celebrate Victory Day, the ruling Bangladesh Awami League organized the procession.
The procession started from Ramna at around 2:30pm and moved through Shahbagh, Elephant Road, Science Lab, Kalabagan and ended and Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi-32, reports Bangla Tribune.
Leaders and activists of various affiliated organizations of the party participated in the procession organized by Dhaka metropolitan South and North Awami League.
Besides, leaders and activists of Jubo League, Swechchasebak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo Mohila League, dressed in red and green, participated in it.
Mahmud Hossain Opu/Dhaka TribuneAwami League presidium members Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam, President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Abu Ahmed Mannafi and General Secretary Humayun Kabir, President of Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and General Secretary SA Manna Kochi and others were present in the rally.
Awami League leaders and activists from, wards and units of Dhaka started gathering at the Engineers Institution near Ramna park and its surroundings to participate in the procession.
All of them attended the rally wearing red and green clothes, beating drums and playing musical instruments.
Temporary traffic congestion was created due to the rally on the respective roads.

“However, the procession was carried out on Saturday to reduce the sufferings of people and there were alternative routes for the vehicle movements,” he added.
