BNP leaders and activists on Saturday morning were marching towards the Golapbagh ground in Sayedabad, Dhaka, in groups to attend the 10th and concluding mass rally of the country's largest opposition party.
The party got permission to hold its rally in the capital after overcoming many hurdles.
Earlier the BNP held mass rallies in Chittagong, Mymensingh, Khulna, Rangpur, Barisal, Faridpur, Sylhet, Comilla and Rajshahi.
Supporters of the party were coming to Dhaka from nearby districts, including Manikganj and Gazipur.
Manikganj BNP President Afroza Khan Rita said under her leadership, 15,000 activists were coming to the rally from the district.
There was a large crowd of BNP leaders and activists, stretching from the rally venue to the Titipara police box at 7 in the morning.
When asked whether the Titipara intersection will remain open, APBn Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdus Sattar said: “I do not know anything about it yet. The authorities will make the decision.”
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday allowed the BNP to hold a rally on the Golapbagh ground in the Sayedabad area from 12pm to 4:30pm on Saturday imposing over two dozen conditions after the party submitted an application.
