Awami League has called for a mass procession in Faridpur on Friday, a day before BNP's scheduled rally in the district.
Faridpur District Awami League General Secretary SM Ishtiaq Arif confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
He said the procession would be taken out on November 11 at 4pm to protest BNP's anarchy, terror, and disorder across Bangladesh.
“The rally will circle the road starting from Sheikh Russel Square in Alipur to Government Rajendra College ground. The district level leaders will join the procession,” he said.
Although the procession of the Awami League on the previous day may not hinder the mass gathering of BNP, many people think that it is a strategy to weaken the rally.
Meanwhile, BNP commented that nothing can stop the November 12 mass rally.
BNP Faridpur Divisional Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid said: “The government is throwing various obstacles including transport strike around this public gathering on Saturday. However, there are multiple entrances to the Faridpur which is surrounded by Padma, Gorai, Madhumati, and Arial Khan rivers. Therefore, it won't be possible to prevent BNP's mass assembly like in other districts.”
“As this rally is in the central district of the country, not only Faridpur, but also the people of surrounding districts will be participating in large numbers. Therefore, considering all aspects, this rally will be the largest mass gathering,” he added.
