Awami League General Secretary and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said how can BNP incite people to overthrow Sheikh Hasina's governments when they could not even hold a movement for 13 minutes in 13 years.
Issuing a warning, he said Awami League will fight against corruption, mismanagement, fake voter list and arsonists.
Obaidul Quader made the remarks while speaking at the district Awami League's triennial conference at Tangail Stadium on Monday afternoon.
He said Ziaur Rahman rewarded the murderers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and enacted a law to stop their trial.
“We will play against all of their conspiracies,” the Awami League general secretary said.
“BNP is trying to stir up people against Sheikh Hasina's government that is easing the sufferings of common people. They will not succeed,” he added.
Obaidul Quader said: “BNP could not even take out processions in 13 days in 13 years. Now they claim that they will hold rallies again. Tarique Zia has gone abroad on bond. Who will lead the BNP movement?”
The Awami League general secretary warned that if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina calls on people, every road will be filled up with people. That's how strong her leadership is.
“If Sheikh Hasina calls, everyone will come down to the streets. We don't need outsiders. We do not run away, BNP does,” he said.

Tangail district AL President Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruque presided over the event while Awami League President Council Member Shahjahan Khan, Abdur Rahman, Kamrul Islam, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Education Minister Dipu Moni were present as special guests.
