The police arrested five leaders and activists of the BNP and its student wing, Chhatra Dal, in the Pallabi area of the capital on Thursday night in two sabotage cases.
The arrestees include Md Joynal Abedin, former converner of the BNP's ward 8 unit, Md Miron Hossain, former vice president of BNP ward 93, and Raihan Islam, president of Shah Ali thana Chhatra Dal.
The five were sent to jail through court on Friday morning, said Parvej Islam, officer-in-charge of Pallabi police station.
