The police have foiled the BNP’s protest against price hikes in Rangpur metropolis, party leaders and activists have claimed.
They alleged that the law enforcement agency blocked their path when they brought out a procession near the Grand Hotel intersection of the city on Thursday afternoon, leading to an altercation.
Later, the BNP leaders and activists held a small rally in front of the street.
BNP Rangpur Metropolitan unit Convenor Shamsuzzaman Shamu, Member Secretary Mahmudunnabi Don, among other leaders, addressed the rally.
The speakers at the rally said the police were not allowing them to hold any gatherings.
They also talked about the rise in the prices of essentials, which was causing untold sufferings.
They blamed the government for failing to manage the country and called for a non-partisan government.
