With the slogan “Women’s victory is everyone’s victory” a daylong campaign was held in Bogra in a bid to encourage women’s political participation in the local and national elections of the country, on Thursday.
It was organised by Democracy International, a USA based international organisation. Hundreds of female leaders from the ruling party Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party of sixteen districts under Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions have participated in the workshop.
Saiful Islam, local president of BNP for Bogra district presided over the campaign. Lovely Rahman, local president of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal for the district said, “It will help to enhance the level of participation of women in decision making and leadership arenas.”
Among others, Katie Croake, director, grassroots program, Democracy International, Jacqueline Daley, head of political section, British High Commission Dhaka, Aminul Ehsan, programme manager, Democracy International were also present.
